The Daily Celebration

November 27, 2004

Zechariah 14:16 (NASB), Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

We see even the former enemies of God coming to recognize Him, and as Matthew Henry observes, to celebrate in the "two great graces" of coming out from idolatry and the world, and into the joy of celebration of the one living God. We read later in this passage that even the bells on the horses are inscribed to His glory, and that even the cookware is sanctified. Best of all, for those who believe, the celebration starts now, for again Matthew Henry observes that "The life of a good Christian is a constant feast of tabernacles, and, in all acts of devotion, we must retire from the world and rejoice in the Lord, must worship as in that feast." Let the celebration begin!

We celebrate all that You have done for us, that we need not depend upon anything in this world once we have put all our trust in You, O Lord!
