The sword of justice

November 25, 2004

Zechariah 13:7 (NASB), "Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, and against the man, My Associate," declares the LORD of hosts. Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; and I will turn My hand against the little ones."

We see the justice of the Lord wielded as a sword, not against the guilty, not against the sinners, but against the sinless, "the man, My Associate." He who was without sin has been struck, nailed to a shameful tree on our behalf in order to satisfy the justice of God. When we see this by the power of His Holy Spirit, we come to our knees before His mighty throne of grace with thankful hearts that He was struck in our place! What better thanksgiving is there?

We come boldly before Your throne of grace with thanksgiving for what You have done for us O Lord!
