They rejoiced because of their encouragement.
Acts 15:30-32, So when they were sent off, they went down to Antioch, and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter. And when they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement. And Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many words.
We live in a time of rampant criticism, both from the world and also from the church. It’s far easier to look at someone else and see their failings than to recognize that we are subject to the same failings. We have to take this as an opportunity to repent before criticizing someone else. And beyond that, are we willing to first encourage each other? We all are in need of encouragement; why not look for ways to encourage others, not only believers, but also those who need to know Jesus as Lord of all?
Open our eyes to see the ways that we might encourage others!
