He gives the Spirit without measure.
John 3:34-36, For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
The life that Jesus calls us to is not just difficult, but it is impossible in our fallen condition. The good news is that when we come to Him, and receive Him, he seals us with His Holy Spirit. And He empowers us by that same Holy Spirit to do those good works which He has given us from before the foundation of the world. As John said, He must increase and I must decrease. Jesus went to the Father that He might send us the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that Jesus was given without measure! Have I asked the Father for the gift of His Holy Spirit today, claiming His promise that our He will grant the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit today, to empower me to do Your will, that I may delight to do your will!
