“O faithless generation.”
Mark 9:18b-19, So I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.” And he answered them, “O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me.”
Peter wanted to stay on the mountain to be content with the manifested glory that Jesus had before he put on flesh. Yet with the demon possessed son in the valley, the disciples had been unable to help, receiving Jesus' rebuke: “O faithless generation.” We read in many places that Jesus went to a lonely place, to seek his Father, to pray; he says later, “this kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” Could it be that we need to heed his words in our own time?
We come to you humbly seeking your face that you may move by faith in our own time, O Lord!
