That he might show the interpretation to the king.

Daniel 2:16, And Daniel went in and requested the king to appoint him a time, that he might show the interpretation to the king.

The king has a dream and demands that his many counselors explain the dream to him, yet in his sovereignty he will not tell them the dream! And when they admit that they cannot do that, they also admit that “only the gods” can do such a thing, and obviously they are not in contact with them. As a newly appointed counsellors, Daniel and his friends now come under the same death sentence as the king reacts in His sovereignty to kill all of these false counsellors! What a picture we have of confidence in the Lord, as Daniel steps in boldly to save his own life and the life of many others. Do we such have confidence that we have access to the living, almighty God who has put His Spirit within us?

Thank You that You have given us the gifts of Your Spirit; let us walk today boldly in the strength and confidence that only You can impart!
