This too is futility and a striving after wind.

Ecclesiastes 6:7-9, All a man’s labor is for his mouth and yet the appetite is not satisfied. For what advantage does the wise man have over the fool? What advantage does the poor man have, knowing how to walk before the living? What the eyes see is better than what the soul desires. This too is futility and a striving after wind.

Solomon knows well the nature of our flesh; it’s far too easy to allow what we see to override the eternal. Scripture encourages us to set our eyes on the things above, those of everlasting value, and to earnestly desire the greater gifts that He has for us. Are we willing to develop our eyes of faith, to seek Him first and to allow His love into every area of our lives?

I want to know You and Your love more each day, for I know that You have overcome the world.
