The one who does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17, Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

The problem I have is that there are many things that are attractive in this world. He calls us to love Him and to love others, not things. It’s painfully obvious that the things of this world are temporary; anyone who’s ever owned a car or a house knows that beyond a shadow of a doubt. He calls us to a higher standard, to seek His will, to use all that He has given us to bring glory to His name.

I want to do Your will more and more every day, O Lord.
