He was accompanied.
Acts 20:4, And he was accompanied by Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus; and by Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia. But these had gone on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas.
Paul certainly modeled for us missionary zeal, and making disciples who make disciples. Sopater’s name means “savior of his father.” And we see Gaius who was apparently unperturbed by having been swept up in a riot at Ephesus. Timothy, who had been left at Berea, rejoins Paul on this trip. And we also see two from Asia, Tychicus, whose name means “fateful,” and who is mentioned four more times in Paul’s letters. And also we have Trophimus (“nutritious”), from Ephesus who also accompanied Paul until his illness. His good news is not isolated; He calls others to go and carry His light as well!
We thank You for using us, for real people who once carried Your light forth into the darkness to inspire us today!
