The cup of reeling.

Isaiah 51:21-23, Therefore, please hear this, you afflicted, who are drunk, but not with wine: thus says your Lord, the Lord, even your God Who contends for His people, "Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of reeling; the chalice of My anger, You will never drink it again. And I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, who have said to you, 'Lie down that we may walk over you.' You have even made your back like the ground, and like the street for those who walk over it."

Israel had been through the judgment of God, delivered by the enemies of the nation. These are hard passages to read, but they serve to remind us that there is an end to God’s longsuffering when the nation refused to listen and was chastised. We know that He disciplines those He loves, and that there is an end even to “the cup of reeling.” In fact, that very cup was turned back to those who tormented the nation. Let us seek Him, and come under the conviction of His Holy Spirit that we may walk in His ways.

Guide us in Your ways, we thank You for Your love that seeks the best for us!
