Divine power to destroy strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6, For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
Paul was dealing with strife and jealousy in the believers that was distracting them from the purpose of spreading the gospel to the next region beyond them. He makes it clear that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against unseen spiritual powers of evil in “this present darkness.” He also makes it clear that we are not to be unarmed; we are to clothe ourselves with the full armor of God and to take our stand against these spiritual forces that seek only to deceive, destroy and devour souls. He has given us His mighty weapons: the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and faith that moves mountains by our prayers!
Cover us with Your mighty spiritual armor; come against those spiritual powers that seek only to blind and destroy others. Save them by Your mighty hand as Your good news goes out to all who do not yet know You!
