The blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:11-14, But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

This was something that the old covenant looked forward to every year as the blood of bulls and goats could do nothing about the inherent nature of sin. Each year the pardon was obtained looking forward to the promise of “the seed” from Genesis to Adam and Abraham, the one to come who would take away the sin of the world. We are blessed to know that savior, and to benefit from His perfect sacrifice by the power of His blood. He is able to purify far more than our flesh; He purifies our conscience so that when the Father looks at us He sees us in the perfection of Christ!

We thank You that by His blood we can stand before You without spot or blemish and be sent forth to serve You, O Lord!
