Lest he die.
Leviticus 16:1-2, Now the LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they had approached the presence of the LORD and died. And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.”
Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu, thought that they could approach the Lord on their own terms. They brought their own offering of “strange fire” before the Him and were consumed by fire coming out from His presence. We live in the freedom, grace and mercy of His new covenant, and we know Christ is our redeember. In Him we have the freedom to come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy in our time of need. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Him.
In Christ alone we boldly approach the throne of grace, that we might receive mercy in our time of need.
