God has found out the iniquity of your servants.
Genesis 44:16-17, So Judah said, “What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? And how can we justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; behold, we are my lord’s slaves, both we and the one in whose possession the cup has been found.” But he said, “Far be it from me to do this. The man in whose possession the cup has been found, he shall be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”
Judah did not know how the money kept appearing in their grain sacks, nor how Joseph’s silver cup had come into the sack of the youngest brother. He did recognize that before God they could not justify themselves, that what they had sown in their treatment of Joseph in past years was now being reaped. He realizes that there is a price to be paid for what was done. What is true is that everyone has a price that has to be paid, that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” He has not left us without hope; He has loved us enough to send us His Son who has indeed paid the debt we owe, at a price we could not pay. And not only that, but He offers us His power to be transformed forever!
Lord, I want to be transformed by the renewing of my mind today; thank You that You make all things new!
