No small disturbance.

Acts 19:23-25, And about that time there arose no small disturbance concerning the Way. For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, was bringing no little business to the craftsmen; these he gathered together with the workmen of similar trades, and said, “Men, you know that our prosperity depends upon this business.

I think it was Luther that said that the first conversion is of the heart, and the second of the pocketbook. As people in Ephesus came to know the truth that sets us free, they realized that they no longer needed the idols sold by the silversmiths. Even though Artemis was Jewish, he had more interest in business than in God’s amazing grace. Do we really trust God to provide for us in His own way or are we fooled into thinking our prosperity depends upon our business?

We put all our trust in You, Lord; thank You for Your provision for this day.
