It was Jesus.
John 5:12-15, They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take up your pallet, and walk'?" But he who was healed did not know who it was; for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse may befall you." The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
It seems rather odd that the man, upon learning who it was that healed him, would go back to those seeking to persecute Jesus who it was that healed him and commanded him to pick up his mat on the Sabbath. Did he fear the ruling authorities that much or was he just foolish? Jesus did all of this without fear, for He was secure in seeing what the Father was doing. And indeed, His time had not yet come. He endured persecution in order to follow the Father, could I do the same?
Give us boldness and security to follow what You want us to do today, Lord!
