“So your God will rejoice over you.”

Isaiah 61:10-62:5, I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations. FPR Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning. And the nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; and you will be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD will designate. You will also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. It will no longer be said to you, “Forsaken,” nor to your land will it any longer be said, “Desolate”; but you will be called, “My delight is in her,” and your land, “Married”; for the LORD delights in you, and to Him your land will be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, so your sons will marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God will rejoice over you.

Do we really comprehend this picture of God rejoicing over us? It’s far to common to have a false humility that really denies the power of God to clothe us with His own garments of salvation. According to His great mercy He has saved us, and when we accept Him He cleanses us and looks upon us as a bridegroom looks upon his bride! Why not accept His great gift of salvation and celebrate today?

We are astonished at Your grace and mercy in Christ Jesus; indeed You are an awesome God!
