Go in and possess the land.

Deuteronomy 1:5-8, Across the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to expound this law, saying, “The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb, saying, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Turn and set your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all their neighbors in the Arabah, in the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negev and by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. See, I have placed the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to them and their descendants after them.’”

After the forty years of wandering, God directed Moses to bring them into the land. Moses makes sure that they know the law before they go in to possess the land by faith. He has given us even more in Christ, for the law had no power to save them. The law shows us the unattainable perfection required by a Holy God; Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life to bring us by faith to Him forever in an even better land!

We thank You for scripture, for the law that shows us Your standards and for Your great mercy in giving us Jesus to rescue us!
