Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods.
Exodus 18:8-12, And Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had befallen them on the journey, and how the LORD had delivered them. And Jethro rejoiced over all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, in delivering them from the hand of the Egyptians. So Jethro said, “Blessed be the LORD who delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, and who delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. “Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the gods; indeed, it was proven when they dealt proudly against the people.”
Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law before God.
We can all give thanks for all the goodness that the Lord has given us, and especially scripture like this that records all that He has done. And we can ask that He give us opportunities to tell others what He has done for all of us. What He did in delivering Israel out of Egypt is indeed amazing; what He has done for us all in delivering us through Jesus Christ is even more amazing. Jesus, who had no sin, became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God. Are we ready to tell others of this amazing love that has set us free from the power of sin and death?
Give us opportunities to tell others of all that You have done for us, Lord; help us to be faithful in what You call us to do, that others might recognize You as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
