Hardship.

2 Timothy 2:7-20, Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned. For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

What an attitude Paul had toward hardship. He and the others were singing in prison, refusing to escape even when an earthquake opened the doors that the jailer and his family might come to know Christ. Would I be singing or complaining? Am I willing to have this attitude, of enduring “all things for the sake of those who are chosen?”

Give us Your heart for those who are chosen, that they may obtain Your salvation in Christ Jesus.
