The governor.

Acts 23:32-35, And on the next day they returned to the barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. When they had come to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul also before him. On reading the letter, he asked what province he was from. And when he learned that he was from Cilicia, he said, “I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod’s praetorium.

Paul is delivered safely, and even on horseback, despite the plots of his countrymen. No doubt he is sharing the gospel even with the soldiers as they go to the next trial, and he will be able to bear witness to the governor as well. Are we so well prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within us, or would we be consumed with worry about what will happen next?

Fill us with Your Holy Spirit; keep us in Your peace, that Your joy and presence may overflow to those around us.
