And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know.

Isaiah 42:14-17, “I have kept silent for a long time, I have kept still and restrained Myself. now like a woman in labor I will groan, I will both gasp and pant. I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and wither all their vegetation; I will make the rivers into coastlands, and dry up the ponds. And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, In paths they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before them and rugged places into plains. these are the things I will do, and I will not leave them undone. They shall be turned back and be utterly put to shame, who trust in idols, who say to molten images, “You are our gods.”

Jesus opened His ministry by reading from the first part of this chapter; He laid claim to being the One who is to open blind eyes and lead forth those who are in prison. We see a graphic description of an almost violent birth that results in light that overcomes the darkness. Am I putting all of my trust in Him rather than the easy temporal idols of our time?

Thank You that You lead us out of darkness into Your light! I put all of my trust in You, and all that You are doing, Lord.
