And what is my end, that I should endure?

Job 6:8-14, “Oh that my request might come to pass, and that God would grant my longing! Would that God were willing to crush me; that He would loose His hand and cut me off! But it is still my consolation, and I rejoice in unsparing pain, that I have not denied the words of the Holy One. What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should endure? Is my strength the strength of stones, or is my flesh bronze? Is it that my help is not within me, and that deliverance is driven from me? For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; lest he forsake the fear of the Almighty.”

Pain is a harsh reality of life; Peter mentions that he that suffers in the flesh has ceased from sin. Pain can give us a tiny glimpse into all that Christ has done for us on the cross. Like Job, it can remove from us the desire to go on, we just want it to be over! Jesus set His face to Jerusalem, knowing that He would suffer and die to redeem us. No matter what pain we endure, we know that He endured even more to set us free!

Thank You that You are with us even when we face trouble and trials, Lord Jesus; give us Your strength for each day.
