Walking in the truth.
2 John 4-6, I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father. And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.
Our culture has come to define truth as relative to the person who is seeking it instead of relative to the truth giver. This is really no different than the anarchy described in the book of Judges, where nearly every chapter closes by observing that each one did what was right in his own eyes. John is very clear that truth is ‘the truth,’ and that the author of the truth is the Father. Sadly our culture continues to spiral, like a small child covering his ears and yammering loudly to avoid hearing the truth! And having the truth only works when we learn to walk in love, that we love one another. Are we walking in the truth in love?
We thank You that Your truth gives abundant life, and that You empower us to walk in love!
