He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:9-12, In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
Nature shows some evidence of love in our own pets, or in those caring for the young, or other rare instances. Normally, the strong eat the weak, the clever outwit the starving; that is the way of survival. And while people often do unspeakable evil towards each other, there are also unselfish acts of kindness, hospitality toward strangers, protection of the weak and acceptance of minorities; in short, acts of love. The love of God goes far beyond this and even in the ultimate rejection of the cross He offers a choice of forgiveness: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” John writes that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” And as we turn to Christ and accept His amazing offer, He empowers us by His Holy Spirit to love with a love never seen in this fallen world without His power. Are we seeking to have His love perfected in us?
We look to Your imminent return and ask for You to abide in us and to perfect Your love in us, that we might live through You!
