The source of eternal salvation.
Hebrews 5:7-9, In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
We know that Jesus set His face resolutely toward Jerusalem as He travelled towards the cross, and that He plainly told His own disciples the unthinkable truth, that He would be crucified, would die and be raised from the dead. We know that as a man, as one of us yet without any imperfection or sin, He submitted to the Father’s amazing plan of sacrifice to set us free from the power of sin and death. Yet even so, He prayed in the Garden with extreme passion that this cup be removed, yet He fully humbled Himself to the Father even in the face of horrific suffering. How wonderful that in Him we now find eternal salvation and ultimate freedom from the fear of death!
We thank You for Your amazing grace towards us in the cross, and for becoming the way, the truth and the life for all who receive You!
