That you may have life.

John 5:39-44, You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. I do not receive glory from people. But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

The religious leaders of that day had the Scriptures that clearly pointed to Jesus as the chosen Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Their spiritual blindness was such that they could not recognize Him. We who do know Him must give thanks that our eyes have been opened, and that we have been enabled by the grace of God to receive Him. Today there are so many people searching in all the wrong places, believing those who come in their own name. We who are blessed to know the truth have the opportunity to tell others of Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We know that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God; let us proclaim the scriptures that others may know the one who gives abundant life!
