Shrewdness.

Luke 16:8-9, The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.

We see this dishonest steward, who realized that he was “not strong enough to dig, and ashamed to beg,” make his final play to his own future benefit by writing down what was owed by various people. He puts the focus on people, rather than the goods, and shrewdness in our own actions. How well are we using the things of this world to produce an eternal benefit? Are we using our minds to the best of our ability, as we do in our profession, to live out the good news of Jesus Christ, to let our light shine that others may see our good deeds and give glory to our father in heaven?

Let our light shine today, let us treat others as you have treated us with grace, mercy and love to bring glory to your name!
