But they all alike began to make excuses.
Luke 14:16-18a, But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses.”
We have this amazing grace offered to us, and like the days of Christ, the great feast that he offered was not rejected but just postponed or “prioritized.” Everyone today is busy as well, that’s often heard in the trite response to how are you: “busy.” The invitation can easily be pushed aside for temporal things that ultimately have no meaning. Am I making excuses myself?
We thank you for your amazing patience as we are offered your amazing grace; let us not be distracted by the cares of this world and miss all that you offer us today!
