And you would not!
Luke 13:34, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!
Jesus knew what was in store for him, in the city that had killed so many of the prophets. He shows us the unending love of the Father, who demonstrates his amazing grace. Even knowing the cross he would bear, Jesus lamented over the city. Later we see him weeping over the city, for he knew that they would reject him and demand that he be put to death. How do we react to those who mistreat and reject us?
Give us this same grace, that we may point the way to Jesus even when we are unfairly treated.
