Phoebe.

Romans 16:1-2, I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well.

Paul gives us the reality of the gospel in the people whose lives were touched by it, beginning with Phoebe, a deaconess in one of the early churches. C. S. Lewis observed that myths abound in human culture about some sort of perceived god who became human, but Christianity ties the reality of God become flesh to real people in real places. The seed promised in the garden becomes the reality of a the seed implanted in Mary, called Jesus for he saves the people from their sins. He is the word become flesh and the hope of the world. Paul goes on to name many others. Do we have a similar list? And do we have a prayer list of those who do not know him?

Thank you for the reality of the gospel graven on the hearts of those who are called!
