He is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:18, For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
His great mercy towards us flows out of his own experience. We ask “lead us not into temptation,” and yet temptation does come. We know that he will not tempt us beyond our ability, and yet we still stumble. Do we remember that he knows how to help us and has also given us the Holy Spirit, to help us in our times of need? Do we ask for his help when tempted?
Help me to remember to ask you for help when tempted; give me the strength to look for the way of escape, to seek only those things that stir my affections for you, Lord!
