Moses was very humble.

Numbers 12:1-4, Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); and they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And the LORD heard it. (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) And suddenly the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came out.

We see Miriam and Aaron talking behind Moses back, apparently jealous for his position before the people and with the Lord. As this disturbing story unfolds and they come before the Lord He affirms His special face-to-face relationship with Moses. But again we see that His “anger burned against them,” and Miriam is struck with leprosy! Rather than relishing his vindication before the Lord, Moses responds in humility by interceding for healing. Jesus tells us that we are to love our enemies and to pray for those who despitefully use us. Am I able to do that? Only with His help.

We thank You for the grace and mercy You show towards us, and that we may intercede for others who so desperately need You, Lord.
