We have been sanctified.
Hebrews 10:9-10, After saying above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast not desired, nor hast Thou taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Thy will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
The old covenant had the sacrifices to remind everyone of the reality of sin; it had no power to deal with the nature of all of us. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Jesus came not as ruler of the universe, but as a suffering servant. Even though He prayed in the garden to have “this cup” taken away, He went to the cross to suffer and die. He proclaimed the good news for us all when He said “It is finished.” Now in Him we have the power to receive Him and to become His children!
Thank You that when we receive You we are born again as Your sanctified children!
