You have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

Revelation 3:1-2, “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.’”

This is a risk in our culture, especially in places that are know as more “Christian.” While we are not saved by our deeds, our lives are supposed to bear the fruit of being born again in Jesus Christ. It’s far too easy just to play the game, to let the good become the norm. He wants more than just the good: He wants us to excel, and to be the best that we can be in Christ Jesus.

Help us to overcome the good and the normal to be the best that we can be in Christ Jesus, Lord.
