The righteous man shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:11-14, Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “The righteous man shall live by faith.” However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “He who practices them shall live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” — in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Man’s religious inventions require various actions, denials or improvements to become worthy. The good news of Jesus Christ makes it very clear that no one is worthy; that only the actions of Almighty God Himself through the incarnation of Jesus Christ allow me to be worthy in His sight. This in itself is humiliating, that no good thing I can ever do or accomplish will make me worthy. Only be the humiliating act of coming to the cross of Jesus Christ by faith will do. And it is also liberating, for I need not clean up my act, I can come “Just as I am.” Jesus took on the curse of the tree in order to fulfill the promise made so long ago that through “the seed” all nations of the world are to be blessed. Only He is worthy, and only by faith in Jesus Christ can anyone who ever lived be worthy!

We fall upon Your grace shown to us in the cross of Jesus Christ; we thank You that we can walk with You by faith for all eternity!
