Eyewitnesses of His majesty.
2 Peter 1:16-19, For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”— and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.
We know the power of eyewitness testimony, for one or two eyewitnesses can seal the fate in a court of law. We have the power not only of Peter’s testimony, but his refusal to recant it in the face of death. He along with many first century martyrs went gladly to their death rather than recant their belief in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Messiah, glorified on the mountain, humiliated, tortured and crucified, raised from the dead on third day to reign on the right hand of the Father. His light shines through two millennia, bringing light into darkness, freeing the slaves and setting the captives free even now!
Thank You for setting us free from the captivity of sin; we want to carry Your light into the darkness of this world!
