The Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.
1 Corinthians 1:20-22, For as many as may be the promises of God, in Him they are yes; wherefore also by Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.
When we come to Christ, by His amazing grace, we are sealed and secure by His Holy Spirit. And even better, He (the person of the Holy Spirit) comes to live in our hearts. A pledge in the world of finance is like a down payment to establish security, or to establish the intent to fulfill a promise. Our security is all in Him, thankfully; none of it depends upon us. Our part is that we have a great need and that He awakens us to fill that great need by faith and His mercy. What amazing grace indeed!
We thank You that all of Your promises are “yes” in Christ Jesus; come, Holy Spirit, be our counselor today.
