Cleanse your conscience.

Hebrews 9:13-14, For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

We used to sing the song, “There’s power in the blood,” and indeed this scripture makes it clear what that power can do. Under the old covenant, only the High priest could enter the inner sanctuary, and even then only once a year under the protection of the blood of a sacrifice. Under the new and better covenant, He offers to cleanse our conscience from our dead works that we might serve our living God!

We thank You that by the power of Your blood we may boldly approach Your “throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.”
