Grant us a little reviving in our bondage.

Ezra 9:8-9, "But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage. For we are slaves; yet in our bondage, our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to raise up the house of our God, to restore its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem."

Coming into the light of God, Ezra and the people recognize how far they have strayed from what God had commanded them to do. Their response was not to turn away and hide from Him, but to recognize that certainly He knew all along how far they had strayed and chose to bring them back out of exile anyway. Certainly, He knows better than we do all that needs cleansing in our lives, and we can walk without fear into His light, knowing that He wants to revive us and to raise us up!

Thank You for Your Holy light, for Jesus who is the light of the world; revive us again, O Lord!
