"What commandment is the foremost of all?"
Mark 12:28, And one of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is the foremost of all?"
It's natural for us to look for that one thing that is most important, unfortunately many times that becomes the minimum that we think we have to do. The scribe was looking for one commandment, but Jesus gives him two, loving God and loving others. Loving God is something noble, abstract and spiritual, but loving others is ordinary, gritty and down to earth. We can see the wisdom of James, that our faith has to have its expression in how we live!
Help us to live out the love we profess for You in ordinary life with those around us to bring glory to Your Name, O Lord.
