Like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter.
Jeremiah 11:18-19, Moreover, the LORD made it known to me and I knew it; then Thou didst show me their deeds. But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more."
No doubt Jeremiah faced hostility, not even knowing that there were such vile plots against him. We can certainly relate to his plea for vengeance from the Lord. How amazing it is to know that our Lord Jesus Christ came as a gentle lamb, even knowing the cross that awaited Him. What amazing love He had for us as He "set His face like a flint" towards Jerusalem and the cross that awaited Him. How incredible that He could look upon those who crucified Him, calling for His Father’s forgiveness, not vengeance.
We are humbled by Your love; give us the mind of Christ to see others as You see them.
